When I started Donuts and Drama in 2017 it was in the usual flurry of ADHD impulse. Dive in. Do the thing (Oh yeah, I didn’t have my diagnosis then, but it all makes so much more sense now). It was a way to grow my photography skills, document the things I love most about parenting, and hopefully connect with other parents. I met some amazing fellow mom bloggers, many of whom I’m still friends with today, and DID grow my own skills with photography as a hobby – the the point where I’ve collaborated with and been hired to create images for some amazing brands.
But – like most ADHD impulse interests do – it started to fall by the wayside. Then as I dealt with balancing #momlife with traveling the auto show circuit for work, growing a tiny human (hello, Teddy!), and then BAM! pandemic lock down, it’s safe to say that trying to grow my reach as an “#influencer” lost its appeal.
As I let this site sit for most of 2020 into 2022 I took time to reevaluate what I hoped to accomplish and contribute with my “online presence.” Do I want to strictly shill products or do I want to cultivate a little slice of the web to serve both my creative impulses and the wonderful community of parents I’ve grown to know and love? So I’ve rebranded. I still love donuts, but we’re working for less drama. I’m merging both my design presence and my blog under my original Etsy shop name: Babyloafs.
(And to be fair, my original intended name was Donuts and Dinosaurs, but that site was already taken)
So stick around and stay a while! I’ll be sharing content on the things that mean the most to us and that our family most enjoys as well as printables, my design work, and while I’ll still recommend products when appropriate, know that everything I recommend or talk about really IS something we love and use. Because nothing is more frustrating that feeling lied to after buying a bum product with rave reviews on TikTok.
